Vodafone to launch 'Vodafone Connect' a home broadband and fixed-line home phone service
Vodafone have announced the launch of their new 'Vodafone Connect' service, offering home broadband and home phone services to existing UK customers.
This new service takes the Mobile Network Operator one step closer to the quad play market, where providers can offer, TV, mobile, landline and broadband services to customers in attractive packages.
Currently TalkTalk and Virgin Media are the only companies offering quad play solutions within the UK, however this is looking set to change with Sky to become a MVNO through the use of O2 mobile in 2016, also BT are working with EE for their mobile offerings, alongside their purchase of the network in March 2015.
Vodafone CEO Jeroen Hoencamp has stated in the companies latest press release, "This is a really exciting move for Vodafone in the UK as we move our business into a new phase. We’re looking forward to bringing our consumer customers the benefits of our experience in providing fixed and mobile services, both here in the UK and elsewhere around the world."
Hoencamp also went on to add, "Our significant investment is creating hundreds of new jobs over the next couple of years. We are looking forward to the year ahead, including our move into offering TV services, as one which will prove to be a step-change in our customers’ lives. ”
This new release comes days after Vodafone announced that they are looking at a possible collaboration with Liberty Bell and utalising some of their assets within the UK (Virgin Media), which will help to strengthen the networks UK offerings for customers.
Broadband customers can download and utilize a new mobile app that will allow users to 'boost' or 'beam' the WiFi signal to areas of the house that usually suffer from poor signal exposure. This is alongside the Vodafone 'Sure Signal Unit' that customers will be given to increase their indoor mobile coverage.
Vodafone Connect is initially being rolled out to existing customers in Surrey, Berkshire and Manchester with Hertfordshire, Yorkshire and Essex soon to follow over the upcoming weeks. The network are aimimng to make the service available to the rest of their UK customer base in the summer and latter half of this year.
