Warning - Smartphone batteries are not edible

A shopper recently learned that biting into a smartphone battery isn't the best way to check its authenticity.

Captured on the stores CCTV and shared on Chinese video sharing site miaopai.com the unexpected incident has since been viewed more than 4.5 million times.

A report from Taiwan News states that a man entered an electronics store in China on 19th January looking to replace his iPhone battery. The Chinese market is plagued with knockoff batteries that look like official OEM parts, with these suspicions in mind the customer decided that it'd be best to test the unit to validate its authenticity - by biting into it.

As the battery was infact legitimate it exploded upon being punctured.
