Samsung to disable charging on remaining Galaxy Note 7 units still in the wild
Despite reclaiming around 97 per cent of Galaxy Note 7 units that were released into the wild, it seems that some users are intent on keeping their Note 7 handsets despite warning from Samsung that they should be returned.
The Note 7 units proved to have a fatal flaw, the batteries inside the handsets had a tendancy to catch fire and/or explode forcing Samsung to pull the phablet from the market.
Upon issuing a global recall, some handsets owners flat out refused to send their handsets back to the manufacturer. This has forced Samsung's hand who has now stated that they will be pushing an update to Note 7 handsets which disables the devices ability to recharge the battery.
This updated is due to be rolled out later this month.
