First photos of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active leaked

The Active line has often been Samsungs' saving grace for those looking for a top-tier flagship handset yet also want the peace of mind that comes with owning a tough phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is this years must-have handset from the Korean tech giant. Since it's announcement people have been wondering if Samsung will be continuing with their Active range and the photos that were leaked yesterday appear to show that there is indeed sucha  handset in the works.

Popular tech site GSMArena have announced that an anonamous tipster has sent them in two photos of the yet unannounced Samsung Galaxy S6 Active.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Leaked Photos

The images show off the new handset front and back. On the front we have the usual Active series physical navigation buttons as well as front facing camera that is pegged to be a 5MP sensor. The rear seems to have been beefed up a bit with the device looking particularly robust when viewed from this angle.

Also shown on the rear is the camera sensor which is expected to feature a 16MP sensor, it appears that the fingerprint sensor has also been removed from the device.

The specs of the device are currently unconfirmed but are rumoured to be the same as the flagship S6 with the S6 Active running on an Exynos processor.

As for the display we expect it to be a 5.1" 2560x1440 Super AMOLED screen with either Corning Gorilla Glass 3 or Gorilla Glass 4 for added protection.

Speaking of protection the device will almost certainly be IP67 rated and will have a MIL-STD 810G rating as last years S5 Active did. GSMArena is citing that the S6 Active will be powered by a 3500 mAh battery and that it may not be removable, If this is the case then we expect the battery compartment to be sealed, helping to protect the interior against water and dust ingress.
