The Pepsi P1 smartphone is coming
We recently reported rumours that Pepsi were to release a smartphone into the Chinese market, well it looks like those rumours have now been confirmed.
It also appears that the carbonated soft drinks giant PepsiCo Inc. will be making more than one device and a range of accessories too!
PepsiCo will be using a licensing partner for the new device, however they have not yet announced who that partner is.
A Pepsi spokeswoman has said, "Available in China only, this effort is similar to recent globally licensed Pepsi products which include apparel and accessories,"
She also went on to add, "Pepsi has always moved at the speed of culture, and today technology is a key cultural pillar at the heart of consumer interaction."
"Pepsi has no plans to get into the mobile phone manufacturing business, but we are committed to engaging with consumers in innovative ways to grow our brand. We'll share more news as it becomes available."
The device's specifications have also been rumoured at with the device running on Android 5.1 Lollopop powered by a MediaTek MT6592 chipset with 2GB of RAM, the will be 16GB of expandable storage on board backed up by 3,000mAh battery.
Also hinted at is that the device will have 5.5” 1080p display, 13MP main camera and 5MP front-facing unit.
All we really want to know is will it be waterproof (Pepsi proof?) and can it be bought SIM free from vending machines?
