John Lewis stores to start retailing mobile phones
UK high street retailer John Lewis have announced that they are due to begin selling SIM-free handsets shortly and Vodafone contracts later on in the summer.
Offering 25 popular handsets to begin with the UK retailer is retailing the new LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 as well as a range of mid-tier and low-end devices.
Sim-free devices will be available immediately and all devices come with the John Lewis two year electricals guarantee as standard.
John Lewis electricals and home technology buying director Jonathan Marsh has stated, "We know from our website traffic and searches that customers are actively looking for mobiles from us, but it’s important we go into this market in a John Lewis way,".
He also went on to add, "At the moment there are thousands of potential combinations of mobile handsets and tariffs on the market, which can be really daunting for customers and this is why we’re determined to bring John Lewis levels of excellence, simplicity and value to the mobile market. Our buyers have done all the homework to make it easier for customers to find a deal that’s right for them."
The retailer will be recommending two contracts to customer, one where the customer wil be given low data allowances and a second plan where high data allowences will be offered.
That's not to say that these are the only two tariffs available to potential customers as John Lewis will have access to the entire range of plans from the MNO.
Also all of the Vodafone contracts will come equipped with the networks 'Data Test Drive' bundle where customers are given access to unlimited mobile data for the first three months of their term.
