Google announce they will be patching Stagefright vulnerability soon

Google have confirmed that they will be working closely with OEMs with aims to bring the Stagefright security vulnerability to an end.

The vulnerability is one where an attack on your handset via an MMS message containing a media file gets opened on your device. The attack embeds a malicious code into your system compromising your data.

Android is programmed to process a video before it's played back on the device, a system called 'Stagefright', it's this system that the vulnerability utilises.

The Stagefright vulnerability affects around 95 per cent of all Android devices with OEMs such as Samsung, HTC, LG and Sony working to get updates and patches out to fix the security risk throughout August.

We expect to hear more soon about when to expect the update(s).
