Around 18 per cent of children aged six to eight own a mobile phone
According to research conducted by American case manufacturer Peli, around 18 per cent of children between the ages of six and eight have their own mobile phone.
The research conducted on 2,000 consumers across Europe in December last year has shown that mobile phone ownership rates for children and young teenagers is on the rise.
- 18 per cent of children between six and eight have their own mobile phones,
- 20 per cent of children between nine and 11 have their own mobile phones,
- 50 per cent of children over the age of 13 own a phone.
The study results also show that 72 per cent of mobile users have had their mobiles damaged due to careless use by a family member. It was also revealed that 50 per cent of that figure did not take immediate action in repairing their broken device.
